FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

GREENFIELD, IND. (August 25, 2026) – BiomEdit, an animal health biotechnology company, today announced the acquisition of Folium Science’s technology platform and pipeline assets, expanding its Programmable Veterinary Biologics™ capabilities with new CRISPR-based microbiome technology and a second commercial-stage poultry product.

The acquisition brings Folium Science’s Guided Biotics platform, a CRISPR-Cas-based technology that selectively targets specific bacterial populations within the microbiome, into BiomEdit’s pipeline. It also adds BiomElix® One, a non-GMO feed additive approved by Brazil’s Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAPA) that targets Salmonella in the poultry gut microbiome, giving BiomEdit a second poultry product program alongside CPerf LLV* (BE-101).

“This acquisition strengthens our platform with a proven, complementary technology and adds a second product to our pipeline that’s already approved in a major market,” said Aaron Schacht, CEO of BiomEdit. “Guided Biotics gives us a new tool for precisely targeting harmful bacteria in the microbiome, extending what we can do beyond strain engineering alone.”

With the acquisition, BiomEdit’s Programmable Veterinary Biologics platform now combines two complementary approaches: engineering bacterial strains to produce therapeutic payloads, and using CRISPR-based technology to selectively target bacteria already present in the microbiome. Together, these capabilities expand the range of animal health and production challenges BiomEdit can address.
